Papal visit to Ireland under consideration

Several papers have reported that the Catholic bishops in Ireland are considering inviting the Pope to the country later this year, to mark the 25th anniversary of his 1979 visit. Reports say the decision was made in principle at a meeting of the Bishops' Conference in Maynooth last week. The bishops have already announced a series of events to mark the 25th anniversary of the 1979 papal visit.
