Sheffield: firefighters hear 9/11 priest's prayer
A prayer written by a Franciscan priest who was the first official victim of the 11 September attack in New York, was used during a service for firemen in Sheffield Anglican Cathedral on Sunday. Father Mychal Judge was chaplain to the New York City Fire Department. He died on September 11 after being hit by falling debris from the World Trade Centre as he gave the last rites to an injured fireman. Sunday's service, lead by the Dean of Sheffield, Peter Bradley, was held to mark the eighth World Firefighter Games, which took place in Sheffield over the holiday weekend. More than 4,000 firefighters from 40 nations took part in the contest which was jointly hosted by the South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service and Humberside Fire Brigade. Father Mychal wrote: Lord, take me where you want me to go; Let me meet who you want me to meet; Tell me what you want me to say And keep me out of your way.
