The Bishops' Conference of England and Wales will attend an in-service formation week at the Royal English College of St Albans' in Valladolid, Spain, from 24 September - 2 October. The week is intended to allow the bishops time to reflect on their Episcopal role and to identify and affirm the vision of the Catholic Church in England and Wales. There will be a specific focus on allowing them to explore the challenges bishops face in their day to day lives. This formation week takes place every three years. The Auxiliary Bishop of Down and Connor, the Rt Rev Anthony Farquhar will lead the bishops in a day of spiritual recollection while Bishop McMahon of Nottingham will reflect on Evangelisation, the topic of the bishops' last in-service week. Further discussions on the Church in Europe and Catholic-Muslim relations will be led respectively by the Bishop of Rotterdam, the Rt Rev Adrianus van Luyn SDB and the Archbishop of Abuja, the Most Rev John Onaiyekan. Charles Handy, an author and philosopher will look at issues of organisation, within the Church, and beyond it. An evening of Music looking at issues of leadership, team building and personal development will be provided by Dominic Alldis of Music and Management Ltd.
