Thousands take part in climate change rally
Christians from across the UK were highly visible at the Climate Change Rally in London on Saturday. Christian Ecology Link Chairman Tim Cooper said: "It's a real privilege to have been present among so many Christians willing to make such an effort to demonstrate their passionate commitment to caring for God's creation." Several hundred Christians attended a crowded church service prior to the start of the rally at Grosvenor Chapel in Central London organized by members of CEL in co-operation with Operation Noah and Churches Together in Britain and Ireland. Richard Chartres, Bishop of London, gave a challenging sermon and Fr Joe Ryan, Chair of Westminster RC Diocese J&P Commission, and Dudley Coates, Vice President of Methodist Conference, each contributed to the service. Ruth Jarman of Christian Ecology Link, attending with her two year old son Tom, said: "It was truly inspirational to leave the service singing 'We are Marching in the Light of God' and then walk across London with thousands of others as part of this important event." Christian Ecology Link is holding its Annual Members Meeting this coming Saturday, 11 November at St Mary's Church, Eversholt Street, London NW1 (near Euston Station), starting at 1.30pm (doors open at 12.30).
