First UK degree for healthcare chaplains

 The only degree course available for healthcare chaplains in the country has begun at St Mary's, Strawberry Hill, Twickenham. This Diocese of Westminster led initiative has been praised by Bishop Tom Williams, Chair of the Healthcare Reference Group of the Catholic Bishops Conference of England and Wales who said: "This degree will give the necessary vitality and skill to minister in the world of Healthcare. I fully endorse it." All applicants must be employed for at least the equivalent of a half-time post (in either a paid or voluntary capacity) in work with healthcare Chaplaincy and will require a letter of recommendation from their religious body to study for this degree.
