Comment Email Print
Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O'Connor issued a message yesterday, to the priests and bishops of Westminster Diocese, informing them that he will be staying on after his birthday next month. In accordance with Canon Law, the Cardinal wrote to Pope Benedict offering his resignation as Archbishop of Westminster. In response, as is usually the case in these circumstances, the Cardinal writes: "the Holy Father invited me to continue in my present pastoral ministry donec aliter provideatur - that is, until he chooses otherwise. I am very content to accept the Holy Father's request. "I ask you again for your prayers and I am grateful for your support and co-operation in our care of this Diocese." Source: CCN
