While just 75 young Sudanese got to Rome for World Youth Week, another 10,000 were out in the streets celebrating in Khartoum. Missionaries report that the Jubilee began on the Feast of the Assumption, with Mass celebrated in the sports field of the Comboni College in the centre of the city. All of Friday was spent as a day of reconciliation with catechises, reflection and prayer. Ten thousand young people took part in a procession through the streets of the Sudanese capital from the college to the Cathedral. They walked hand in hand, singing and praying. The festivities ended on Sunday with a party in the sports field.
