Moluccas: children show the way to peace
More than a thousand Christian and Muslim children prayed for peace together in the centre of the capital city Ambon, on Wednesday. A huge crowd, including leaders from both faiths, watched as the children performed songs, poems and dances calling for peace. Staff from the diocesan crisis centre explained to the Missionary News Service (MISNA) that the event was the brainchild of the governor of the Moluccas, Saleh Latuconsina, and organised by Chief Police Commander Firman Gani. In a special ceremony held in front of the Governor's office, the children were presented with funds for their schools valued at US$19,500. A Crisis Centre spokesman said:"The parents of these children should feel ashamed. Why can't they make peace as the children already have?"
