Birmingham: Celebration for centenary of Chiara Lubich's birth

Young people from Christian and Sikh schools in Birmingham will be providing a musical 'heartbeat' to a national interfaith event in January. Journeying in Dialogue will take place on Saturday 18 January at the Elgar Hall, University of Birmingham. Local, national and international contributors will share experiences of building unity, inspired by the spirituality of the Focolare Movement.

2020 marks the centenary of the birth of Focolare founder Chiara Lubich. The Movement has moved beyond its origins in the Roman Catholic Church and now involves Christians of many Churches, followers of all the great world religions and people of goodwill. Journeying in Dialogue will celebrate the journey so far, but also look ahead to new pathways to unity.

The event will welcome three keynote speakers: Archbishop Bernard Longley of Birmingham, Dr Mohammad Ali Shomali, Director of the International Institute for Islamic Studies and Bhai Sahib Ji, leader of the GNNSJ Sikh community.

The Focolare's spirituality of unity has been taken up across the world, bringing change through social action, political dialogue and unity amongst and between communities of faith.

This open event aims to explore its contribution to the world of today, highlighting shared values and common goals.
