The tragic death of God's Will

Migrant tent near Calais

A young Nigerian migrant died in Calais last week. Ben Bano, Co-Director of Seeking Sanctuary writes: "We were saddened to learn of the tragic death of God's Will, a 22-year old Nigerian young man seeking sanctuary who attempted to start a fire in a jam jar in his tent in Calais but was overcome by carbon monoxide poisoning.. We remember God's Will as one of those victims so easily forgotten and yet precious in in the eyes of the Lord from whom his name derived."

"Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him - may he rest in peace. May his name and his short life live on in our memories."

'Seeking Sanctuary' aims to raise awareness about people displaced from their homes and to channel basic humanitarian assistance from faith communities and community organisations via partnerships with experienced aid workers. Their special concern is for the 2000 or so exiles who are stuck north-western France, mistakenly expecting a welcome in the UK.

They need food, water, good counsel and clothes, which are accepted, sorted and distributed by several organisations, including two Calais warehouses which also supply needs further afield.

For further information contact Ben Bano on 07887 651117 or Phil Kerton on 01474 873802.
