Contemplating the Holy Spirit in music

Ahead of the world premiere of his Symphony No.5: 'Le grand Inconnu' (The Great Unknown), Sir James McMillan and Cardinal Vincent Nichols contemplate the mystery of the Holy Spirit and the exploration of representations of the Holy Spirit in music in this recorded interview.

Symphony No. 5: Le grand Inconnu, a new choral symphony commissioned by the Genesis Foundation, was performed by the work's dedicatees Harry Christophers and The Sixteen, with members of Genesis Sixteen, and the Scottish Chamber Orchestra at Edinburgh's Usher Hall on Saturday 17 August 2019 as part of the Edinburgh International Festival, and will be recorded for future broadcast on BBC Radio 3. The London premiere will take place at Barbican Hall on 14 October 2019 with Britten Sinfonia.
