Pilgrimage: Walking and Praying in the Catholic North West
The Thinking Faith weeks at Boarbank Hall in Cumbria have been running for 15 years. The Augustinian Sisters are joined by a Dominican friar or two to welcome younger Catholics (20s-40s), who want to explore their faith freely and intelligently in a friendly, prayerful atmosphere.
This year's week (20-27 July) will be a bit different. We are planning a pilgrimage walk on most days, taking in local places of religious significance. These will include places such as Furness Abbey, and Dodding Green, where the Bishops of Lancaster are buried and the Cenacolo Community currently lives - and at least one more challenging walk in the Lakeland fells. These will be accompanied by sessions relating to pilgrimage and the religious history of the area - the monks, the martyrs and the rest of us! We'll explore these through talks, pictures, poetry and prayer. Join us for a week with a difference - mind, heart, spirit and body cared for in equal measure.
