Video: Season of Creation 2018
Last week, the UN's climate science body released a report on the world's global warming. The goal is to limit warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius over pre-industrial levels. At 1.5 degrees, scientists agree, heat waves, sea level rise, storms, and droughts will grow catastrophically severe. While the poorest of our brothers and sisters will suffer the brunt of this catastrophe, the truth is that all of us are vulnerable.
We have a few short decades to complete a transformational shift to the clean energy economy. All of us are needed in this great work.
During the recent Season of Creation - 1 September to 4 October 2018 - Christians around the world came together as never before. From Kansas to Kampala, Kent to Karachi, we prayed and acted as one to protect our common home. In 2018, the season was celebrated with 650+ events in 68 countries on six continents.
We take hope in the faithful action of those around us. Now as never before, we must band together for the "long path to renewal," as Pope Francis has said.
