London: International Conscientious Objectors Day
All peace-loving Londoners are invited to gather at the conscientious objectors' stone in Tavistock Square on Conscientious Objector's Day on Tuesday, 15 May at 12 noon, to honour pacifists past and present.
Guest speakers this year are Selam Kidane, an Eritrean human rights activist, and Hannah Brock of War Resisters' International. There will be songs led by antiwar singer-songwriter Sue Gilmurray, a minute's silence, and a chance to lay flowers at the stone, as we remember the COs of all countries and all times.
Bring coworkers, friends, or family to the hour-long ceremony, and a picnic for afterwards. All are welcome.
Organised by the First World War Peace Forum, Quakers in Britain, Anglican Pacifist Fellowship, Conscience: Taxes for Peace not War, The Fellowship of Reconciliation, Movement for the Abolition of War, Network for Peace, Pax Christi, Peace News, Peace Pledge Union, the Right to Refuse to Kill Group, and the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom.
