Wales: #RedWednesday at St David's
On Wednesday, parishioners of St David's in Mold, came together to pray for and reflect on the suffering and persecution of our Christian brethren around the world, as well as other abused minorities such as the Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar (Burma), Jews and other faith groups.
At 9.15am, Mass was offered for all those facing harassment, imprisonment, torture and death for their religious beliefs. Children from St David's School wearing red ribbons and badges welcomed parishioners at the church door, said the readings and with the help of their teacher composed and read the Bidding Prayers and participated in the Offertory Procession. Their engagement and sincerity was clearly evident in their heartfelt sentiments and clear delivery.
Thereafter, throughout the day, parishioners came in a steady stream to pray before the Blessed Sacrament and at 3pm, to conclude the devotions, Father Pius conducted Benediction.
Poster displays were arranged around the aisles and the church was decorated with red plants, flowers and candles creating a powerful atmosphere of peace, reverence and prayerfulness.
£100 was donated by parishioners towards the work of Aid to the Church in Need providing shelter, food, clothing and medical supplies to displaced families and refugees. Many thanks to all who participated in any way.
