Day at Heythrop College. Is religious life life-giving? Can we find ways of assessing levels of happiness and well-being within religious life so as to promote healthy community living, spiritual and emotional maturity, life/work balance and fruitful ministry? A psychologist and religious who has done leading research in the USA on Life Satisfaction for Apostolic Women Religious offers an overview of her research and strategies for supporting a happy and healthy life for all religious.
With Sister Maria Clara Kreis is a Sister of Divine Providence, born Mainz, Germany. During doctoral research in psychology in the USA she developed the Life Satisfaction Scale for Apostolic Women Religious (LSSAWR). With funding from the Conrad N Hilton Foundation this assessment tool is now being further extended in two studies, in English (for Sisters born between 1950 and 1999) and in Spanish (with leaders of Spanish speaking congregations). Sr Clara is now the Grant Project Coordinator and Lead Researcher at Duquesne University of the Holy Spirit in Pittsburgh, PA.
The cost of the day is £25 including tea/coffee and lunch.
