Holy Land: Rabbis condemn eviction of Palestinian family from their Jerusalem home
Source: RHR
The Israeli organisation Rabbis for Human Rights (RHR) has protested at the eviction of a Palestinian family from their home in East Jerusalem - a story that was also reported by the BBC World Service and other international news agencies.
RHR write: "Last night (early morning September 5 2017), a large number of police forces entered the house of the Shamasneh family in Sheikh Jarrah and forcibly evicted the entire family from their homes.
"The evacuation included the grandfather of the family, who has lived in the home for 53 years. Jewish settlers immediately took over the house. In the name of an ideology that distorts the values of Judaism, an entire family is now homeless today. Such behaviour is immoral, certainly not Jewish, and in serious violation of human rights.
"As Jews, one can not remain silent in the face of injustice. We call for a halt to the eviction of the families from Sheikh Jarrah."
