Sleeping out for Cardinal Hume Centre
Cathy Corcoran, CEO of the Cardinal Hume Centre, will be sleeping out at the Lord's cricket ground on 31st October to help fight poverty and homelessness.
This is her third Sleepout (Wembley, the Oval and now Lords), along with other CEOs.
In Cathy's case, vitally needed funds will go towards the Cardinal Hume Centre in Central London and its work in tackling poverty and homelessness.
Last year over 1,400 people came to the Cardinal Hume Centre looking for help, advice and support as times became tougher for them and their families. Some were sleeping rough, some were living in hostels or on someone's floor while others were facing the risk of being evicted or forcibly moved away from their homes and communities.
Cathy wants to bring home the key message that poverty and homelessness should not exist in our country today and wants to raise funds to support those people who find themselves on the edge through no fault of their own. She feels sleeping out for this one night does not compare to the reality these people are facing day in and day out, but says " believe me it will be an act of genuine solidarity"!
