Appeal to Pope Francis to reinstate women deacons
The Wijngaards Institute for Catholic Research has sent to Pope Francis a 'Documented Appeal', dated 3rd September 2015, asking him to restore to women their full share in the ordained diaconate.
We call it 'documented' because we show that women have ministered as ordained deacons for a thousand years in the Catholic Church. They were 'sacramentally' ordained - to use a modern term. We give copious references to the evidence for this published by us on www.womenpriests.org and www.womendeacons.org.
If women could be ordained deacons then, why not now? It would be a first step towards recognising the full potential of women's ministry in the Church.
Please, co-sign our Appeal and invite also your Friends to do so - through newsletters, Facebook, Twitter or other media.

Please, forgive me if you receive this email more than once. You may be on more than one of my mailing lists . . . .
I send this to you also on behalf of Dr Luca Badini Confalonieri, my successor as Director of the Institute, and our whole team.
With all best wishes for your life and ministry,
John
