Pax Christi Advent Service and Fair
Readings and prayers reflecting a concern for abused women, refugees, the people of Palestine & Israel will be the focus of the annual Pax Christi Advent Peace Service. Held at St Aloysius Church, Euston on Monday, 8 December, the service which has been held for more than twenty years, will include music from Bernadette Farrell, the Iona community together with traditional Advent and Taize music. The music will be led by pastoral musician Julie McCann.
Pat Gaffney of Pax Christi said, "many people tell us that this service helps them to focus on the Advent themes of hope and the call to peacemaking and justice - it is the start of their spiritual preparation for Chrsitmas. We have a faithful following which is added to each year as new people find us and join us. This year we have invited the Jesuit Refugee Service, the Women at the Well project, together with a Pax Christi focus on Palestine & Israel and on peacemaking , to create a prayer focus within the church. During the service the congregation will be invited to take a short 'pilgrimage' around the church to pray and reflect at each point."
Following the service there will be an alternative Christmas market and social with mince pies and mulled wine as well as stalls with Christmas cards, fair trade goods, Palestinian foods and products, items from Jesuit Refugee Services - a great opportunity to do some Christmas shopping in a peaceful environment.
The service begins at 7.30pm and is open to all.
