ICN reports from Rome
Independent Catholic News is reporting from Rome this week. Ellen Teague, writer, and Jo Siedlecka, editor, are attending the week-long 'Church Up Close ' seminar at the Pontifical University Santa Croce, together with nearly 50 Catholic journalists from around the world.
The week includes lectures from Cardinal Jean-Louise Tauran, President of the Pontifical Council for Inter-Religious Dialogue; Cardinal George Pell, Prefect of the Secretariat for the Economy; Fr Federico Lombardi SJ, director of the press office of the Holy See; Nigel Baker, British Ambassador to the Holy See; academics and church media specialists. A highlight will be the General Audience on Wednesday and the Angelus on Sunday in St Peter's Square with Pope Francis.
Participants are being taken behind the scenes at the Vatican, as well as tours around Rome. Jo and Ellen are staying at the house of the Sisters of the Congregation of Jesus.
