Arundel & Brighton - resident Housekeeper at St Cuthmans's Retreat Centre

is seeking to appoint a RESIDENT HOUSEKEEPER

This is a new post that has been created as part of the re-structuring of the domestic team, pending the retirement of the Assistant Warden at the end of March 2010.

We are seeking an experienced housekeeper to oversee the domestic duties of the Centre, including some direct delivery of cleaning and preparation of guest rooms (x 16), common areas, and the laying up, serving and clearing away of meals.  40 hours per week, spread across 6 days (including some evenings and weekends).  Flexibility in relation to exact hours worked each week is required in order to meet the fluctuating occupancy levels.  Overnight emergency ‘on call’ is required to cover for the Director’s days off.

A self-contained single bedroom rent/services free flat, on the second floor of the main house is provided, subject to a service occupancy agreement.  No pets and no children.  Non-smoker. Own transport is essential because of the rural location and limited access to public transport.

Experience of co-ordinating and delivering domestic services in a residential setting is essential. A sympathetic understanding of and commitment to working in a quiet Retreat House is desirable.

Salary £6.50 - £7.50 per hour depending on experience

This new post provides a unique opportunity for someone with practical skills to work and live in a beautiful, peaceful setting as part of a small dedicated team of staff and volunteers.

Closing date for applications:  Wednesday 17th February 2010.  For a job description and application form please contact:  The Director on 01403 741220 or email
