Zimbabwean election protests in London

Actors will be playing Mugabe and his wife and there will be Zimbabwean singing, dancing and drumming at a demonstration in London tomorrow, in protest at the manipulation of the voting in last week's elections.

Some 500 Zimbabwean exiles took part in Mock Elections outside the Embassy last Saturday. They voted overwhelmingly for the opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai of the Movement for Democratic Change. The Mock Elections were organised by the Zimbabwe Vigil which has been demonstrating outside the Zimbabwe Embassy every Saturday for the past six years.

A Vigil statement said: "Mugabe has been rejected by the people and must not be allowed to cling to power".

The Zimbabwean Election Protest will take place outside the Zimbabwe Embassy, 429 Strand, London WC2 from 2 pm 6 pm, on Saturday, 5 April 2008
