Woldingham School welcomes new headteacher

Woldingham School looks forward to a new era under the direction of Mrs Jayne Triffitt who took over from Miss Diana Vernon as the Headmistress of the School last month. Jayne Triffitt was formerly Headmistress at St Mary's, Cambridge.

Originally from Cornwall, Jayne was educated at Truro High School. She read Chemistry at St Hilda's College, Oxford in 1976 and then trained to be a teacher in the same town. She has been married since 1982.

Jayne taught in six schools during a 26 year period, including a 10 year spell as Head of Science at La Sainte Union School in Highgate. She went on to become Head of Sixth Form at St Mary's Ascot where she lived on site with her husband and young children. In 2001 she took over the Headship at St Mary's School in Cambridge.

Jayne Triffitt said: "I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to take over the helm at one of the country's leading schools. Woldingham's traditional values, its reputation for excellence and outstanding facilities are envied throughout the sector. I am very much looking forward to getting to know the girls and working with the management team, the staff, the Governors and the parents. One of my key aims will be to build on my predecessor's legacy to further enhance Woldingham's already considerable achievements."
