London: women's interfaith media literacy workshop

A workshop run by Women's Interfaith Media Literacy in conjunction with St Ethelburga's Centre for Reconciliation and Peace takes place next Monday, March 10 from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm.at St Ethelburga's Centre for Reconciliation and Peace 78 Bishopsgate London EC2N 4AG (Nr Tube Liverpool St)

The media are important in forming opinions. Women of faith want to affirm the good in the media but are concerned with issues such as the coverage of faith and faith communities, how they treat women, and marketing pressures on children.

Women's Interfaith Media Literacy provides information and resources. It helps you to share concerns with other women of faith, interact effectively with all the media and make your voices heard by broadcasters and the press.

This workshop will help you:
v become more knowledgeable about how the media work;
v learn some basic skills for dealing with the media and journalists;
v network with other women of faith with similar concerns;

The Programme will include a mixture of talks and presentations from local journalists and broadcasters, group discussions and practical exercises.

The workshop is led by Dr Jim McDonnell, media consultant to WIML, and Sandra Herbert, radio broadcaster and media specialist for the Christian Muslim Forum.
