training for aspiring media producers
The Churches' Media Council is offering up to 16 FREE places on
a 3-day training academy at its annual conference in Derbyshire.
TheMediaNet Academy will take place from 11th-13th June
at the Swanwick Conference Centre. It is designed to encourage
young Christians exploring a career in media. Trainees will work
alongside top media professionals, and will have a chance to showcase
their skills in front of producers and commissioners.
Successful applicants will spend the three-day long conference
producing radio, video or web content, which will be showcased
at the end of the conference. They will produce short films, programmes
and web-content using industry standard equipment. And they will
have day-long mentoring from some of the country's top producers.
The Director of the Churches' Media Council, Andrew Graystone,
said: "A key way to influence the culture is to encourage
talented young Christians to explore a career in media. The
MediaNet Academy will be a great way for learn the ropes and
get a head start when it comes to applying for jobs."
Members of the Academy will be provided with all their meals and
accommodation, as well as full access to next month's Churches
Media Conference. The scheme has been supported by the Christian
Evidence Society.
Several trainees from previous courses have gone on to find work
as producers and presenters for mainstream TV and radio.
