Excommunication order lifted on Archbishop Milingo
The August 20 deadline for excommunication on Archbishop Milingo has been cancelled. The former archbishop of Lusaka, Zambia, 71, had been threatened with excommunication after he married a Korean acupuncturist in a group wedding conducted by the Sun Mying Moon sect in New York. On Tuesday the archbishop had a private audience with the Pope. Following the meeting, Fr Ciro Benedettini, from the Vatican, said the ultimatum by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith had been lifted, in order to give both sides more time to examine the situation and come to decisions.
