Mother Teresa on road to beatification

The Vatican confirmed this week that they have begun the formal procedure towards the beatification of Mother Teresa. A local investigation by church authorities in Calcutta in India, where she spent many years of her life tending the dying, has concluded that she 'showed the heroic qualities demanded for a saint'. Now the Vatican will examine several reported cases of allegedly miraculous cures of people who prayed for the intercession of Mother Teresa. A spokesman said the process could take about two years - after which the Vatican is thought likely to consider making her a saint. Originally from Albania, Mother Teresa, who died only four years ago, devoted her life to the poorest of the poor. The order she founded, the Sisters of Charity, now has more than 4,000 members working in more than 120 different countries.
