Children of Bethlehem ask to go to school
School children from Bethlehem and surrounding villages will try to walk to Manger Square on Wednesday, to ask to be allowed an education. For the past two years most Palestinian children have received very little schooling. Curfews, roadblocks and demolitions have meant that that most have been unable to leave their own homes safely. On Wednesday, the Governor of Bethlehem with members of the Education ministry, Islamic Institutions and Church leaders will lead the gathering. There will be Moslem and Christian prayers, a silent vigil outside the Church of the Nativity in memory of all the children and teachers who have been killed, speeches and a balloon release.
