The Vicar General of Nyahururu Catholic Diocese, in Kenya, has died in a road accident near the capital, Nairobi. Fr Daniel Kariuki Munga died on Tuesday evening, at Uplands near Nairobi. He was 41. The burial will be held next Monday, November 29, 2004.

"We lost the Vicar General at Uplands yesterday evening," Nyahururu Bishop's Secretary, Sr Esther Wangui Ichugu FMI, told CISA. Sr Esther said Fr Kariuki's car, according to early reports, collided with a truck between 6.30 and 7pm local time.

The cleric was driving alone, she said. Fr Kariuki was born at Weru, North Kinangop, in 1963. He was ordained deacon on December 8, 1989, and priest on July 22, 1990. He served at Mweiga and Tetu parishes, among other appointments. May God rest his soul in eternal peace.
