Prayers for the Camerons

Religious and political leaders throughout the UK are praying for Conservative Party leader David Cameron and his family, as they mourn the loss of their son and sibling Ivan.

The six-year-old was taken ill at the family home in London on Tuesday night and died in hospital, with his parents at his side, early on Wednesday morning.

Ivan was the David and Samantha Cameron's eldest son. He was born with cerebral palsy and Ohtahara syndrome, a very rare form of epilepsy, the combination of which meant he needed 24-hour care.

Christian Medical Fellowshp's Dr Andrew Ferguson said the whole family deserved prayr and support at this time.

"Losing a child suddenly, even when it's perhaps not entirely unexpected is always a big trauma," he added.

Prime Minister's Questions was cancelled yesterday as a mark of respect and Gordon Brown led tributes in the Commons instead.
