Pakistan Christians jittery as Islamic Law adopted

Churches in Bangalore have joined rights groups in expressing anxiety over Pakistan's federal government agreeing to enforce Islamic law in the
troubled Malakand Division of the country.

The implementation of Sharia Law was agreed last week in an attempt to broker a truce with pro-Taliban groups in the region that includes the Swat Valley, about 160 kilometres from Islamabad.

According to Christians in the area, the introduction of the Islamic legal system renders constitutional and juridical law redundant.
