Brazil: Comboni missionaries killed in road accident

Two Combonian missionaries, were killed in a road accident in Brazil on Saturday, 24 June - Sister Luisa Manuel, 47, from Mozambique and Sister Giuseppina Lupo, 37, from Italy. The fatal accident happened around noon as the sisters were driving along the trans-Amazon road returning from a visit to some families.

According to a statement from the General Council of the Comboni Missionaries, the two religious belonged to the community of St Antonio do Matupi, in the Diocese of Humaita.

"We ask you to pray with us for the families of the two Sisters, especially for the parents, the Sisters in Brazil and Sisters Luisa and Giuseppina. May the Lord embrace them forever in his infinite Love," concludes the statement.
