London: Cardinal Pell to ordain ten transitional Deacons for Ordinariate
Source: Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham
On Saturday 17th June ten men will be ordained Deacon to serve the Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham in the UK. They include two men currently at Oscott completing their fifth year of studies and who will be the first Ordinariate clergy to have undertaken their entire formation within the Ordinariate. The other eight candidates are former Anglican clergymen who are following a specially designed two year course of study leading to their ordination in the Catholic Church
The Ordinariate central church at Warwick Street is too small for an event of this size, so by the invitation of the Rector, Fr Christopher Colven, the Ordination Mass will take place at St James, Spanish Place. The ordaining bishop will be Cardinal George Pell who will be assisted by Mgr Keith Newton, the Ordinary of the Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham. The Mass, celebrated according to the Ordinariate's distinctive liturgy Divine Worship, begins at 11.30am and all are welcome to this celebration of the Ordinariate's continuing growth.
