West Lancashire man becomes National GB Catenian President
Peter Rogers, from West Lancashire has been elected as the new GB National President of the Catenian Association.
This year the annual Catenian conference was held in Bristol over the weekend of 12-14 May. Many flew in from around the world to attend conference. Peter, a member and President of St Helen's Catenian Circle now heads the Association which dates back to its formation in 1908.
The Catenian Association the initiative of Bishop Louis Charles Casartelli, Bishop of Salford now has its headquarters in Coventry and has branches (known as 'Circles') in the United Kingdom, Malta, Ireland, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Australia, India, Hong Kong and Bangladesh.
The Association supports charitable and other good works in a number of ways. It has two chief charitable funds of its own – a welfare fund for the support of its own members and their families, and a bursary fund for external charitable support. Bursaries are available to young people who undertake voluntary work overseas and in the UK.
