London: Guitar concert for SVP with Professor Charles William Pohl

Professor Charles William Pohl, a student of Julian Bream and Yehudi Menuhin, a long-time supporter of the St Vincent de Paul Society and classical guitarist of international repute, will be performing 'Revolution and Love', a spectacular hour-long program of music at Farm Street Church this Friday, 12th May 2017 at 7pm.

Professor Pohl studied classical guitar under the legendary Julian Bream, Narciso Yepes and Eliot Fisk. For many years he has frequently given solo charity recitals in the UK, USA, Israel, China, Taiwan, Russia, Ukraina, Italy, Austria, Portugal, Cyprus and Spain.

Professor Pohl will be playing one or two very special guitars from his family collection of historic pianos and legendary concert guitars, which includes some of the world's most sought after classical guitars, hand built by the ‘Stradivaris of guitar luthiers’, Amalia Ramirez de Galarreta, Ignacio Fleta e hijos and Paulino Bernaber from Madrid and Barcelona and the legendary 'La Dracaena', built by the 'German Stradivari' Sebastian Stenzel.

Outside his musical career Professor Pohl is a lawyer specialising in International Business Law, mergers and acquisitions, IT and media Law. He studied law, psychology and music in Germany, received a Doctorate in Civil Law in 1974 and was elevated to Professor for Media Law in 2002 at the University of Heidelberg, Germany and for Cultural Law at the University Mozarteum Salzburg, Austria.

In 2003 he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in National Economics in Germany and became Visiting Professor at the Universities of Georgetown, Washington, Lomonossow, Moscow and Comenius, Bratislava, Slovakia.

For many years he was the Legal Counsel to two Presidents of the German Federal Parliament and the Chief Legal Counsel of the Salzburg Festival in Austria during the time Herbert von Karajan was Artistic Director. He was also for long years the lawyer and close friend of Lord Yehudi Menuhin who once said: "For sure he is the best guitarist among the lawyers and the best law professor among the guitarists in the world."
