Sisters offer bursaries for WYD 2016

Poor Clare Colettine community of Ty Mam Duw in Hawarden, North Wales, have set up a bursary to enable at least two young people to go to WYD 2016 in Krakow. They write:

Pilgrimage is part of everyone's life; we are all on a journey. Next year, at least a million pilgrims will arrive at Krakow for World Youth Day and forty years ago Sister Maria Juliana's pilgrimage landed her with the Poor Clare Colettines.

In the family tradition of Ty Mam Duw, the sisters make presents for the 'jubilarian' to give away. In earlier times this was to enable her to give gifts to her family and friends to show her appreciation of their support. Sister Maria Juliana is a convert to Christianity and her family did not support her choice.

Sister Maria has asked that the gifts given her might be sold to provide for young pilgrims to go to 2016 World Youth Day in Krakow. Those going to the sisters' celebration at 11am on October 15, and those who visit their Sale of Work at 11 am the following Saturday will have the opportunity to put a ticket in the hat for someone of their choice aged between 18 and 30 to have the chance to go to WYD-Krakow!

If you want to recommend someone, or if you would like to contribute to this please send a letter marked 'WYD Pilgrim Bursary'. It costs around £600-£700 to send someone. The sisters hope to be able to send at least two pilgrims! World Youth Day is from July 25 - 31, 2016 and the successful candidates are asked to come and tell the sisters about their adventures afterwards, if possible!
