London Catholic Worker marks Refugee Week with action and prayer

London Catholic Worker is marking World Refugee Week with a series of action and prayer events. At noon today (Monday 15 June) members joined a prayer vigil and protest in Parliament Square calling for the closure of Yarlswood and other detention centres where refugees are being held by the British government often for many months, with little support or explanation.

Tomorrow at 1pm, (Tuesday 16 June) there will be a prayer vigil at the Home Office in support of refugees crossing the Mediterranean. More than 1,750 people already this year are known to have died attempting the perilous voyage from North Africa. Many thousands who survived the voyage face an uncertain future as they wait to be processed by the authorities.

On Thursday ay 7pm there will be a Prayer Liturgy at Giuseppe Conlon House, 49 Mattison Road, Harringay London N4 1BG for all migrants and refugees. All are welcome!

On Saturday, 20 June at 12 noon, LCW members will be joining the End Austerity Now National Demonstration at the Bank of England in Queen Victoria St.
