James & Gerry - running for HCPT

The London 10K run takes place this Sunday, 13 July. Thousands of participants will set off from Piccadilly, past The Ritz, St James's Palace, Trafalgar Square, St Paul's, across the River Thames, along the South Bank to the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, and up the Mall finishing at Whitehall.

HCPT

Among the runners are father and son Gerry and James Teague (pictured) who are hoping to raise funds in order to take at least one child to Lourdes next Easter with the HCPT Chiswick Group 144. Gerry said: "It costs over £740 to take one child on the pilgrimage, so anything you can give will be greatly appreciated. If we can sponsor more than one that would be even better!

AID TO THE CHURCH IN NEED

Staff and supporters with Aid to the Church in Need are putting on their running shoes to help Syrian refugees. National Director Neville Kyrke-Smith and Head of Press and Information John Pontifex will be joining supporters Harriet Nassozi and Miriam Withers taking part in the Run.

Mr Kyrke-Smith, who just returned from visiting Syrian refugee families supported by the charity in Lebanon, said: "I feel compelled to do my first ever sponsored run to help some of the refuges whom I have met in the Middle East. Those who have fled terror and violence now face a situation which seems without hope – two or three families crammed into one room or sleeping outside, surviving in tents if they are fortunate. He added: "I hope that my friends and the friends of ACN will feel able to fund my size 14 feet as I trample a 10k run for those in real need and those who care for them…. And please say a prayer for this old runner and the others."
