Daily Masses broadcast on-line - Europe and America
As the internet grows, more and cathedrals, churches and shrines around the world, are broadcasting Mass and other services on-line - providing an invaluable service for the housebound or anyone unable to get to church. Pope Francis said recently: “The internet offers immense possibilities … this is something truly good - a gift from God”.
The latest project to take up this challenge is the new Catholic Internet Radio 'Heavens Road', based at Wonersh seminary. The site already offers podcasts for downloading and a range of live audio programming. It has now webcam links with more than 16 parishes in England and Ireland streaming more than 230 Masses a week. www.heavensroadfm.com
Heavens Road is supported by Bishop Paul Hendricks from Southwark Diocese; John Toryusen from Southwark Catholic Youth Services. Gerry Coates is Project Director. The station is run by volunteers. If you are interested in joining the team - there is training on offer - see: www.heavensroadfm.com/vols/
Another established site, which has a growing number of webcams in dozens of parishes in England and Ireland is MCN Media see: www.mcnmedia.tv/
For Masses from across North America see: www.catholictv.com/shows/daily-mass
Today is the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes. While most of us can't be there in person - we can make a virtual pilgrimage - Masses, Rosaries and processions are broadcast from Lourdes the year round - 24 hours a day. See: http://en.lourdes-france.org/tv-lourdes/
