TONIGHT - Heythrop: lecture by Professor Godfrey SJ on ‘How to think about hope’
Professor Joseph J Godfrey SJ from St Joseph’s University, Philadelphia, will be giving a public lecture at Heythrop College on Tuesday, entitled ‘How to Think about Hope’.
Hosted by the Centre for Philosophy of Religion at Heythrop, the lecture draws upon recent work Professor Godfrey has done as a visiting lecturer at Loyola University, Chicago. It is a draft of part of a book on hope, and a follow up to his 1987 volume on the subject – A Philosophy of Human Hope.
Professor Godfrey is author of the articles on trust and on hope in the forthcoming 2013 supplement, on philosophy and ethics, of the New Catholic Encyclopedia.
Entry to the lecture is free and there is a wine reception to follow where there will be an opportunity to meet Professor Godfrey and members of the Centre, including John Cottingham and Keith Ward.
The lecture takes place on Tuesday 22 January, 6pm in the Marie Eugenie room, Heythrop College, W8 5HN.
