Bruce Kent: 'Dale Farm eviction is work of self-righteous bullies'

The eviction of 80 Traveller families from Dale Farm in Essex, is the work of 'self-righteous bullies' - that's the view of Bruce Kent, patron of the Irish Chaplaincy in Britain today.

Kent said: "These people bought the land. They have been there for more than ten years. Many of them are elderly or children. Some are quite ill. This is by no means the only place in the country where people are in breach of planning laws. People are committing planning breaches all over the place and they don't bring in bulldozers, helicopters and riot police and treat them with such brutality!

"It is a scandal to be expecting these people to move without at least offering them another appropriate site. Where are they supposed to go?"

"As the saying goes - 'weak men take to strong measures."
