Time is running out to register for the Great East End Walk!

There is just over a week left until the Great East End Walk 2011 - have you registered yet?

There are still places left on this fantastic family event on Sunday 15 May which takes you on a 10 mile sponsored walk through some of the East End's most famous places and best-kept secrets.

You will see the parks in bloom and you will pass the site of the 2012 London Olympics. With rest-stops at the historic House Mill and Ragged School Museum, you will get the chance to discover some of the East End's most fascinating historical sights.

More than 200 supporters are already registered to take part - make sure you are one of them and register now at www.greateastendwalk.com

As soon as you register and pay your £10 registration fee, you will receive an event pack in the post including information about the day, sponsorship forms and a fundraising pack.

What will happen on the day?

On Sunday 15 May, you will need to arrive between 10-10.30am to collect your t-shirt, goody bag and route guide. You will then be ready to set off on the 10 mile route.

You can walk the route on your own, with friends and family or as part of a group of other supporters. Your route guide provides clear instructions and maps and there will be stewards along the way to make sure you don't get lost.

After three miles you will be able to rest your legs at the beautiful House Mill on Three Mills Island, the world's largest tidal mill still in existence. At the six mile marker you will be able to make a quick stop at the Ragged School Museum in what was once London's biggest Ragged School.

Most people can expect to complete the walk in four to five hours, although it very much depends on your speed of walking. At the end of the walk, you will arrive back at St Joseph's Hospice where you can pick up your certificate and grab a cup of tea.
