New scheme to help volunteers maintain historic churches


William Morris Faith in Maintenance is a new initiative which aims to advise and train volunteers who look after historic places of worship. A winner of the European Union Prize for Cultural Heritage/Europa Nostra Laureate prize 2010, the scheme provides training to help you understand how your church building works and how to solve problems such as leaky gutters or blocked drains.

Courses are free and are available to any volunteer who helps look after an historic place of worship. The next courses takes place at:

The Friars, Aylesford, near Maidstone, in Kent, on Saturday, 19 March.
 
St Augustine's Church in South Kensington, London SW7 on Tuesday, 22 March.

All Saint's Church in Linfield, West Sussex, near Haywards Heath, on Saturday, 26 March.

Lancaster Quaker Meeting House, Lancaster, Lancashire on Wednesday, 6 April.

Baxter United Reformed Church, Kidderminster, Worcestershire on Saturday 9 April.

St John the Baptist's Woking, Surrey on Thursday 14 April

Chantry Hall, Bedale and Bedale St Gregory, North Yorkshire on Saturday 16 April
