Panel debate: should we bank on the Robin Hood Tax?
St Paul's Institute, Tearfund, CAFOD and The Salvation Army will be hosting a panel debate in St Paul's Cathedral on Tuesday, 29 March at 7pm. on whether or not, and the extent to which, the financial sector has a moral role to play in contributing to the common good.
Public discussion on this topic has been stirred by the Robin Hood Tax campaign, which proposes an additional tax on the financial sector to raise billons of pounds that could be used to fight poverty and climate change both here and abroad.
Evan Davis, well known economist and BBC presenter, will chair the debate which consists of panelists from different perspectives, including:
Xavier Rolet, CEO of the London Stock Exchange
Michael Izza, CEO of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales
Rt Revd Peter Selby, former Bishop of Worcester
Baroness Shirley Williams, House of Lords
All are welcome to attend this lively and pertinent debate.
The event is free and non-ticketed. Doors open at 6.30pm for a 7.00pm start.
