School appeals for Sacred Heart statue

Sacred Heart at Mountgrange Abbey

Sacred Heart at Mountgrange Abbey

Do you know of a stone statue of the Sacred Heart that is no longer needed? Possibly one from an old church or home? A Catholic primary school in London is looking for one to place in a new garden prayer area they are building. Deputy Head teacher Tony Lynch writes: "At St Charles Catholic Primary School in North Kensington, we are developing an outside prayer area where classes, groups and individuals can spend time in prayer and reflection.

"The area will be dedicated to The Sacred Heart in recognition of the Sacred Heart Sister who founded our school community in 1907. The area is almost complete with five wooden pews, a York stone altar and some carefully selected plants, but we need a stone statue of The Sacred Heart to stand next to the altar.

"A new statue is proving to be too expensive for the School so we are appealing to any person or organization which may have a stone Sacred Heart statue they no longer require. Ideally it will be over one metre high and be able to withstand the elements. A financial contribution from the school is possible. We can arrange for it to be collected within a reasonable distance from the school."

The school is located in North Kensington, W10. If you are able to help please contact the Deputy Head on 0208-969-5566, or emai: info@st-charles.rbkc.sch.uk.
