New Catholic archive at Roehampton University

Roehampton University has recently acquired the Queen’s Archive as part of its Archives and Special Collections, which represents a valuable new resource for the Digby Stuart Research Centre for Catholic Studies. This collection of paper and audio records was generated in the course of a project to investigate authority and governance in the Roman Catholic Church.

The project was conducted by the Queen’s Foundation for Ecumenical Theological Education in Birmingham between 1995 and 2001. It involved a series of conversations, interviews and conferences in which some 1,000 people from all walks of Catholic life, clergy and laity, participated. The information contained in these records has already resulted in several publications and has inspired a number of other research projects, but the collection as a whole still represents a largely untapped resource for those interested in contemporary Catholicism.

The collection is uncatalogued at present but there is a comprehensive box list and enquiries are welcomed.

Please contact Joanne Meek or Vicki Briggs, Archives and Special Collections, archives@roehampton.co.uk or 020 8392 3323.
