Last chance to enter Best Young Preacher competition
Premier Christian Radio and the College of Preachers have launched the first annual competition to find the best up and coming preachers from across the UK. 'Young Preacher of the Year' aims to help and encourage the next generation of Christian preachers, with the closing date for entries at the end of May.
"This competition will encourage young Christian preachers across the country and even though there can only be one winner, everyone who enters this event will find that it helps them with their preaching," said Peter Kerridge, Chief Executive at Premier."
"It's important that people don't see this as an event to promote celebrity preaching. This is about helping a new generation of preachers with their calling."
Premier is asking preachers aged between 18-30 to send in a recording of a live sermon that was given in front of a congregation. There will be a shortlist of 25 entrants, seven of which will reach the final and get the opportunity to deliver their sermons in the prestigious Methodist Central Hall in London. The sermons will be judged by a team of tutors from the College of Preachers, evaluating each entrant by how faithfully they engage with the Bible, directly with the congregation and relevantly with peoples concerns.
The final will also be a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the College of Preachers.
