Thai Children's Trust to receive Westminster Lenten Alms
The Thai Children's Trust, (who are one of ICN's sponsors) and the St John Southworth Fund, have been nominated by Archbishop Vincent Nichol, with his Council, to receive funds donated in this year's Westminster Diocese Lenten Alms collections.
The Thai Children’s Trust supports the neediest children across Thailand - orphans, children affected by HIV/Aids, children with disabilities, street children, children fleeing persecution, and vulnerable and disadvantaged young people.
Currently the Trust is helping provide a home, an education and a future through linking 20,000 donors to more than 2,000 children through 21 projects across Thailand. It works in partnership with local Catholic dioceses, the Redemptorists, the Camillians and the Good Shepherd Sisters.
In the UK the charity has a popular sponsorship programme, corporate tie-ups with business, a schools fundraising programme with trips for pupils to visit projects in Thailand, and a volunteer programme for gap year students and others wishing to teach and work at the Trust's projects across the country. Archbishop Vincent Nichols became Patron of the Trust last September.

The St John Southworth Fund is a grant-giving scheme to support the work of parishes, organisations or individuals across a range of issues including poverty, old age and infirmity, homelessness and children with disabilities or who are in danger of deprivation. Since its launch in December 2007 by the Diocese of Westminster, it has provided funding to over 160 successful bids totaling more than £1 million.
