London: Polish folk-rock night raises funds for Haiti

There was a choir and Slavonic folk-rock at a Haiti Emergency Appeal Benefit held  at the Polish church in Islington, north London on Sunday.

Organised by parishioners Ania Zielonka and Hubert Ignatowicz, with the support of Father Krzystof Ciebien, the evening at the parish of Our Lady of Czestochowa and St Casimir  raised around £2327.93 for CAFOD.

After an introduction and prayer from Fr Krzysztof Ciebien and the psalm 13 prayer, Tony Sheen, from CAFOD gave a presentation on the agency's work in Haiti.  The show kicked off with song  from the choir,  followed by a short performance of Grzegorz Kot on the acoustic guitar.  A signed picture of Grzegorz was sold in the interval.

The second half got off to a rousing start with a set from folk band Travelling Irons taking the audience on an musical journey around the world. Ethno-rock band DobraMind consisting of Hubert Ignatowicz, Tadeusz Palosz, Marek Waskiewicz, Ewa Zborowska, Krystian Data and Jakub Brodziak delivered an inspiring finale.
